My name is Scott Armstrong; you might know me as the developer behind Orbx TreesHD, and part of the development team behind Orbx 0S9 Jefferson County Intl, S93 Cle Elum, KHAF Half Moon Bay, and NCA Northern California.
Scenery design has long been a passion of mine. When I first got involved with flight simulation back in the days of FS2002, I was mesmerized by the detailed, beautiful renditions of small Pacific Northwest airports created by Bob Bernstein, Bill Womack, and Georender’s Richard Goldstein. These FS legends were able to convey not only the look of the airports they were re-creating, but the feel of them as well; that mystical, intangible aura that surrounds certain general aviation airfields and, to me, is central to the magic of aviation. I do my best to capture that same sense of atmosphere in my sceneries as well, whether it’s the rustic charm of a small airport lost in time, or in the high-detailed textures of my worldwide HD texture upgrade series. To me, the fun part is in trying to get the atmosphere right; to make you feel like you’re really there.
Aurora Simulations is my new home on the web, where you can check out my previous work, get updates on upcoming products, and hear the occasional rant and rave here on the blog. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter and follow us on social media via the links below!
And be sure to check back often for updates on the long-awaited BuildingsHD... It’s been a long time coming, but we’re nearing the finish line ;)
